PHILIP ANSELMO To 'Set Record Straight' About PANTERA On 'Headbanger's Ball'
May 10, 2004SUPERJOINT RITUAL frontman Philip Anselmo will "set the record straight about PANTERA" while hosting this weekend's edition of MTV2's "Headbanger's Ball", according to an official press release. The two-hour special episode, which will air Saturday, May 15 at 10:00 p.m., will feature "videos of old-school metal greats" rarely seen on the show as well as" videos by the latest metal has to offer." In addition, you will be able to watch SUPERJOINT RITUAL guitarist Kevin Bond get tattooed by none other than the "king of rock tattoos", Paul Booth. Known for his macabre, iconoclastic ink on SLIPKNOT, SLAYER, SEPULTURA, PANTERA, SUPERJOINT RITUAL, CRADLE OF FILTH, SATYRICON, FROM AUTUMN TO ASHES, SOULFLY, SEVENDUST, SIX FEET UNDER, DEFTONES and more, Paul Booth has also designed album art for DEICIDE, SIX FEET UNDER and PIG DESTROYER as well as set design and merchandise for SLAYER.
When asked about this weekend's show, SUPERJOINT RITUAL guitarist Jim Bower stated, " 'Headbanger's Ball' is a great outlet for kids old and young to see what is new, what is happening and to see what is very metal." Added Bond, "Glad we are on 'Headbanger's Ball' instead of 'Where Are They Now'"
Philip Anselmo commented: "As any person might think I may say something negative (about 'Headbanger's Ball')… It is actually still a good place for the majority of kids to find heavy metal."
"They need to play more metal — it's about time 'Headbanger's Ball' came back," offered bassist Hank Williams III. "It needs to be six hours long a day not once a week."
Drummer Joe Fazzio exclaimed: "I am ecstatic that there is an outlet for heavy music — it's cool that bands can be underground and still be on MTV2. You can still be watched by millions and be underground, so — HAIL!"
SUPERJOINT RITUAL are tentatively scheduled to enter the studio this fall to begin recording the follow-up to last year's "A Lethal Dose of American Hatred", due in early 2005 through Sanctuary Records.
